Jennifer & Riza - The Carbon Monoxide Alarm That Saved Their Lives

 

 

 

 

To everyone at Kidde,
 
THANK YOU.  I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to you all!! You see, I am alive today because of your product, The Nighthawk. My dachshund, Riza and I live in Austin, TX and don’t usually use the heater much at all but we got a cold front this week and the temperatures have been down in the 30’s so last night I turned on our heater to just take the chill off. As Riza and I were getting ready to go to bed about 10:30 pm our Nighthawk went off and due to the fact that I have cardiac problems and asthma I knew I should call 911. The two fire trucks came and the firemen checked our apartment with their “special” carbon monoxide detector (after removing me & Riza of course…) and they picked up levels that were 2.5 times what they consider a danger point. The firemen unplugged my Nighthawk to review the peak levels feature it has for their documentation and said it was comparing accurately with their readings. The fireman who was staying with me & Riza in the fire truck so we could be in a safe air environment told me that that carbon monoxide detector did its job and saved our lives. I had to have a heating technician over to my apartment to do a carbon monoxide check – the technician turned on the heater and within 3 minutes had a reading that was higher than any reading he said had ever seen in all his years of testing and condemned the unit. He said that I was lucky to be alive and detecting the extreme levels of carbon monoxide that he did within 3 minutes of simply turning the heater on, there was no doubt in his mind that without our carbon monoxide detector, had Riza and I gone to sleep last night we would have “not ever woken up again”; that our Nighthawk was the reason we were both here today! I recently turned 29 (Riza’s 6) and there is so very much that I still have to do in this world that the thought of not being here today is unimaginable – thank you for giving me that second chance to fulfill my life’s purpose!
