Kidde Limited Warranty for the United States

What does this Limited Warranty Cover?

Except as otherwise provided below, Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Inc. (“Kidde”), warrants to the original end user purchaser that the products set forth in the chart below (“Products(s)”) will be free from defects in material, workmanship, or design under normal residential use and service from the date of purchase by the original end user purchaser for the duration of the warranty period in effect for such Product at the time of purchase pursuant to the chart at the end of this warranty statement.

What does this Limited Warranty not cover?

This limited warranty does not cover Products that have been damaged, modified, abused, altered, if it fails to operate due to improper maintenance, inadequate power, unauthorized or improper power source, loss of connectivity for home automation Products, problems that may be reasonably expected to result from normal wear, or if purchased from an unauthorized seller. Only original, unaltered, and unmodified Products purchased from an authorized seller in the United States are covered by this limited warranty.

Kidde Products are legitimately sold only by authorized resellers who are required to follow Kidde’s policies, procedures, and quality control standards. Because Kidde cannot control the quality of Products sold by unauthorized sellers, this warranty applies only to Products that were purchased from Kidde or a Kidde authorized seller located in the United States, unless otherwise prohibited by law. Kidde reserves the right to reject warranty claims from purchasers for Products purchased from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized internet sites. What will Kidde do to correct problems?

If a claim is made under this limited warranty and, after inspection by Kidde proves to be valid, Kidde will replace the Product (part replacement only, no installation). Upon such replacement, the original remaining respective warranty period will continue in effect and be applicable to the replacement Kidde Product.

How do you get service?

If you feel your Product is defective in any way, do not tamper with, install, or use the Product. In many cases, the quickest way to exchange your Product is to return it to the original place of purchase. If you wish to submit a warranty claim to Kidde, please call our Customer Service Center at 1-800-880-6788. Please be prepared to provide a description of any claimed defect(s) (as many times our Customer Service team is able to resolve the issue over the phone), and please also have information about where and when you purchased the Product to verify warranty eligibility, as well as photographs of the front and back of your Product that show the Product’s model number. Please see the chart below for information on where to locate a Product’s model number. Should you choose to mail us these items rather than e-mail, purchasers are responsible for postage.

In certain instances, our Customer Service team may require the return of the Product to Kidde. If this request is made, you will be instructed to send the Product with proof of purchase, postage prepaid, to our Warranty Service Department, which is located in North Carolina. Any Product believed to be defective as covered by this warranty may not be returned for warranty service without prior authorization from Kidde. Purchasers are responsible for shipping items to Kidde at their own cost. Kidde is not responsible for packages lost in transit.

Limitation of Liabilities in the United States

THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THOSE STATED HEREIN. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF THIS SALE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION OF THIS WARRANTY. KIDDE AND ITS SUPPLIERS’, AFFILIATES’, AND AGENTS’ MAXIMUM LIABILITY PURSUANT TO THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, OR ANY OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY, IS LIMITED TO THE PURCHASE PRICE YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL KIDDE BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES BASED UPON BREACH OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR STRICT LIABILITY. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.

If there are any differences between this limited warranty and the warranties printed in marketing or other Product materials, then the terms of this online limited warranty supersede those in other materials.
